What to do when...

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT... USE IT!!!

Arrested Stopped in your car
DO DO
Immediately state your refusal to speak to the police or their associates and request an attorney. Present your driver license, registration and proof of insurance when requested.
Stay calm and request to speak with an attorney before answering any questions. Sign any ticket only in the space provided for driver signature.
If you are under 18, tell the officer and ask for your parents to be contacted.  
   
DON'T DON'T
Do not make any statements or sign anything without first speaking with a qualified attorney. Do not make any admissions of guilt.
Do not physically resist law enforcement officers. Do not consent to a search of your vehicle or person.

 

In an automobile accident Injured
DO DO
Call the police immediately. Seek medical attention immediately!!!
Seek medical attention immediately if injured. Obtain names and addresses of any witnesses.
List names and addresses of all parties and witnesses involved. Note medical facility and physician’s name.
Take pictures if possible. Take pictures of area as soon as possible.

Do not leave the scene of the accident until police arrive. Do not sign any release forms without speaking with an attorney.
Do not speak with an insurance representative without first speaking with a qualified attorney. Do not make any statements regarding fault.
